Yes reminds me of the North of England farmers who were Sunday Meth preachers and would not work on Sundays. Traded in tractors that had been priced and they then arrived with old wheels and knackered batteries off other vehicles .

And even hire cars. I once hired a Renault 5 from the local Renault dealer. The hire side was run by a nice young lady who didn't know much about cars. I should have realised there was something wrong when I couldn't unlock the petrol cap, but they replaced that. Driving up the M1 in the slow lane the speedo was registering 120mph, then just about all the plastic trim fell off. I never checked the tyres but they were probably bald. I was worried for a while that I'd get the blame.
And I see that recently the Heathrow parking cowboys, who could change an engine just like that while you were sunning yourself abroad, have started up again! Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
