I think i convinced her to keep caravaning with Andy's story of woe

I think i will still look at buying a weekend tent, just not a £1800 one

Might get away without a trailer too, just strap a waterproof gear bag to the thule towbar mounted bike rack, and get a roofbox for the clothes and stuff, no towing speed restrictions to keep CG happy

My Brother uses one of these too

The company that I work for produced a folding trailer - towbag it was called.
Best of both worlds, carry 200Kg outside the car, you could even have a bike rack for the top, when you get to site it folds up into the boot, when you get home stow it under the stairs.

The only drawback £700

Getting through type approval cost a fortune, if they could have made hundreds it would have been half the price, as it was they didn't sell more than a few dozen.

Agree with ronp, try a Folding Camper not a trailer tent, we had a Conway Countryman for years great to tow, when folded out with awning it's huge, had everything except a shower. Common sense isn't very common.

Im amazed, as a caravaner, that you would even contemplate returning to camping. OK maybe in guaranteed sunshine in the south of France but UK? Rolling with laughter Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948
