Looks like just heat and smoke damage to the caravan, fortunately. I wonder if the towing electrics were the cause. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

my guess dodgy electrics, jumping power instead of correct towbar electrics

I once had a Engine Management warning pop up on my old Vectra, got recovered and the electrics felt warm and looking inside the connector was warped a little with the heat, the car was diagnosed with a sensor going on a belt, so don't think it was connected, but obviously lucky Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

for once I doubt the caravan was anything to do with the fire, unless towing unduly taxed the car, it is a big old lump to tow especially in the winds mentioned.

my car will never have to suffer the strain of towing such nonsense while I own it. At work

I know. You don't want to have to uncouple the muck spreader first.

I had a real good going fire in my Discovery wiring once. Fortunately, so I thought, I can stop it with the battery isolator. No so! It was wiring to do with the tracker device which had its own battery backup. I think it was incorrect installation but impossible to tell when all the wires have fused together. Everyone can spread it - Anyone can catch it. Stay home - the life you save can be your own!

I think it may be the new anti-caravan sensor that is secretly being installed to all Land Rovers whilst they are in for service, I believe Chicken George Enterprises may be at work again...... Now - 2017 BMW X3 M Sport Carbon Black

Once, during our caravan days, we stayed at a small farm site in North Wales. An old couple with an old caravan were parked up nearby. They cooked their evening meal on a small charcoal BBQ. Later before they went to the pub he picked unused charcoal bits out of the BBQ and put them in a bag. He then placed the bag in the front locker. The front locker also contained the gas cylinder. Some time later we heard a commotion and walked around the back of our van to see his van being engulfed in flames, fueled by a long jet of flame waving around from the cylinder rubber hose. I manged to turn off the gas cylinder but within minutes the van was reduced to a chassis.
Gas BBQs only for me after that. Jules
