United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Santorini Black
New owner!

Hi all, picked up a nice FL2 today to stop the wife stealing my Disco. Seems great so far 👍
2 questions, can new keys be coded easily or is it a dealer job? Is rear wiper failure common?

Thanks. 2007 Freelander 2 XS TD4

When replying to question, I open up a second window and search on the freel2 website for the posting I want.

Then I 'right click' with the mouse on the address (link) at the top of the screen and choose copy.

Back in my original (reply) window I 'right click', and choose paste, to put the address (link) into my reply.

I hope that makes sense. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

To get a whole new spare key would be a dealer job.

Or could find a blank key yourself and buy the kit and software to do yourself, but probably easier to go the dealer route!

site member RRUK has been refurbing the earlier slot keys (up to MY13) for a while now, new casing and new battery. Don't think he can do the coding though as this would require a decent OBD device so as you say its either dealer (approx. UK £250) or someone local with an autologic or similar (approx. UK£100)

Cheers. I’ll try and find a used fob and get it coded. Only asking as some car makers let owners code their own keys if they already have a working key. 2007 Freelander 2 XS TD4

A used key cannot be reprogrammed as far as I am aware. Most big towns will have a mobile car key company that will come to your home and supply and program a replacement key for you for around a £100 or so which will include cutting a new emergency key blade. You have to shop around however as some places will tell you (incorrectly) that it is main dealer only. Also be aware that not many places will want to try and program a key that they did not supply themselves as they can be problematic to do. Good luck! Thumbs Up
