BCM Replacement, can it be done by a specialist?

Hi, unfortunately my freelanders BCM has failed, the vehicles totally dead 🙁.
I've bought a used bcm from a local breaker just as a test and so I can get in the boot etc but can't turn the vehicle on as it spits the key out (I presume due to the incorrect key programming).
I was just wondering if anybody knew if the BCM can be replaced by a specialist or is it something that can only be done by a main dealer? And does anybody know the approximate cost of having one replaced so I know if I'm getting ripped off or not?
Thanks for any info
Scott

The second hand BCM is about as much use as a fart in a space suit. They have certain data programmed in the factory. There are specialist ECU repair company's that are easy found on Google, that may be able to repair the old one. I take it all of the lives and earths were present going to the BCM?

Keep in mind if you peel the footwell carpet back at the passengers side you will find a few multiplugs check the integrity of them first as they can be quite problematic. As well as checking all fuses. (However if all lives and earths are present ignore this)

I was looking to change mines a while back the cost of the BCM was around £1200 and two hours labour to program. Thankfully that was not the fault.

I know the used ones no use, I just wanted to power the vehicle up to get in the boot to get stuff out. basically to cut a long story short I was uploading a Ccf configuration using my nanocom evolution and it appears to have fried the Ecu, I had a look on the nanocom forum and somebody else's did exactly the same

If the CCF upload is the problem, then it isn't fried. Almost sure.
Contact GAP diagnostics guys and they will guide you how to revive your BCM.
As for opening the boot, look at the wiring diagrams and power the latch motor directly.
