Turnbulls Subaru York

With the FL2 playing up I thought I would see what the opposition have and dropped into Turnbulls Subaru York on Saturday.
That was a waste of a journey as they are still on the Subaru list but deffo not one to be seen. Not sure if they were pushed or jumped but don't waste your time going for a look as the cupboard is bare (rednecks can say bear). FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

everyone I know that has had a Subaru the underside is all flakey with rust after four years or so. Find that most jap cars are much and such the same in that sense. The sugars are particularly bare inside and not nicely finished. I have been looking around recently for ideas on what's next but nothing really seems to be near as well finished as the LR/RR. Only downside to them are the running costs.

I'd have to disagree with you on that wouldn't I. Rolling with laughter

The Outback SE Premium I bought last year is rather nicely finished inside without being like a tart's handbag. Strangely for this this year the lower spec cloth seat car has been dropped and only the SE Premium is available. Rust - 6 year anti corrosion warranty . General Warranty, 3 years Bumper to Bumper and 5 years on all power train. Have a look at what £34 grand buys you Outback v Disco Sport.

They are a niche vehicle, not for everyone , but I've just put 11k miles on mine without a hiccup more than I can say on the LR products I've owned ( and still own ) over the last 20 odd years . I was fishing Bolton Abbey yesterday, and another of the rods was there in a very nice 06 Outback, Talk to the Dealers, they sell them to people who predominately are cash buyers who will keep them for years.

Bob, if you want a look at one at a " proper" place, KT Greens on the Pool Bank crossroads. Family firm, used to dealing with straight talking Dales farmers . They have some very nice Cosworth tuned BRZs in ( the Toyota GT86 in The new Top Gear is a badge engineered Subaru built BRZ) , the odd McRae 555, and sometimes Classic 50s Jag Roadsters. They are also Isuzu dealers and have a nice range of king cabs set up from everything from builders, to shooting, to plain " just look at me " Rolling with laughter Rolling with laughter 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Every time I hear the word "Subaru" I'm reminded of using the new Subaru Impreza WRX thingy that my ex boss used to own and I drove from time to time; it was quick, handled and gripped brilliantly (it was my first experience of performance four wheel drive) and was a lot of fun to drive Very Happy

Unfortunately, I'd not experienced interior quality in the Subaru's league since driving my very first company "car" - a 1983 Nissan Sunny van Shocked I'd need a lot of convincing that they've changed!

Was referring to the underside that goes flakey not the bodywork. 5 year power train warranty us a plus, I assume that it only covers the likes of engine or gearbox for failure and not the electronics tho?

Let's put it this way Tigger and Trav. I did enough research to put 30 grand outright on the table. I've had two Defenders and still have the Ford -Pug Crossbreed ( sorry I mean the Freelander 2) , and had LR customer service on speed dial Rolling with laughter
Anyhow it's each to his own, The Subaru is lovely to drive with the CVT gearbox, fairly economical, good enough for the amount of " off road " I do which is limited to clay shoots and fishing beats. When I compared the £34grand Outback and the £34grand Disco Sport I was happier putting my money with the Jap car. As an aside, just like the Defender, the Outback is one of the few cars that will not get you " Class"ified.

The 5 year limited warranty on the Subaru power train is surprisingly not available on the WRX Laughing ( ps anti corrosion is 12 years)

For built-in peace of mind, every vehicle (excluding WRX STI) marketed by Subaru (UK) Ltd is covered by a 5-Year/100,000 mile (whichever is sooner) Limited Warranty.

The Subaru 5-Year / 100,000 mile Limited Warranty comprises of a standard 3-Year / 60,000 mile (whichever is sooner) Manufacturer’s Warranty (bumper to bumper, excluding clutch driven plate) and an Extended Warranty (applies to powertrain only) provided by the importer, Subaru (UK) Ltd, for up to a total of 5 Years or 100,000 miles (whichever occurs first).

WRX STI is covered by the standard 3-Year / 60,000 mile (whichever is sooner) Manufacturer’s Warranty (bumper to bumper, excluding clutch driven plate).

The fitting of performance upgrade kits or parts, whether purchased direct from an official Subaru franchise dealer or an aftermarket provider constitutes a modification to the vehicle and therefore invalidates the vehicles warranty. This is clearly explained in the Service & Warranties Booklet found in the glove box of your vehicle. The seller of your modified vehicle is required to provide you with a separate warranty, which he would source from a third party provider. If the car you have bought has not been subjected to a performance upgrade, your official warranty remains intact.

All vehicle bodywork is covered by a 12 Year Anti-Corrosion Warranty and paintwork is covered by a 3 Year Warranty. Added reassurance is provided by a comprehensive 3 Year Recovery and Assistance Programme valid in the UK.

WHAT IS COVERED – EXTENDED POWERTRAIN WARRANTY (EXCLUDES WRX STI)

a) It is warranted that each new Subaru supplied by Subaru (UK) Ltd registered and normally operated in the United Kingdom will be free of defects in powertrain components or workmanship during the extended warranty period.

b) Any officially appointed Subaru (UK) Ltd dealer will make any repairs and adjustments, using new or remanufactured parts, to correct defects covered by this warranty.

c) The extended warranty becomes effective immediately after the standard limited manufacturer’s warranty expires and will only cover the powertrain components as defined below up to a maximum of five years or 100,000 miles (whichever is sooner) from the date of first registration or the date of first use.

d) Warranty repairs (parts and labour) will be made at no charge a reasonable time must be allowed after taking the vehicle to the dealer for repairs.

covered by a 3 Year Warranty. Added reassurance is provided by a comprehensive 3 Year Recovery and Assistance Programme valid in the UK.

FOR THE PURPOSE OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY THE POWERTRAIN IS DEFINED AS:
ENGINE:

Engine Block and all internal parts
Cylinder Heads and all internal parts
Cam Covers
Timing gears and cover, excluding belts · Oil pump and cooler
Water pump
Radiator
Fuel pump
Intake manifolds
Flywheel
Engine mounts
Fuel Injectors
Turbo and Intercooler
Alternator
Starter Motor
Air conditioning compressor (all other air conditioning parts are excluded)
Power Steering Pump (all other Components related to steering are excluded)
Engine sensors (excludes airflow meter)
Seals and Gaskets

TRANSMISSION:

Case and all internal parts
Torque Converter
Transmission Mounts
Seals and Gaskets

DRIVELINE:

Prop shaft
Front and rear diff and internal parts
Axle shafts and CV joints
Seals and gaskets

Customers are advised to consult their Subaru dealer on the precise details of warranties/guarantees and vehicles available for sale. Full warranty terms and conditions may be found in the Service and Warranties Booklet for each vehicle. 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

Greens are right across Leeds from me but if needs must. Tomorrow the FL needs to decide to play ball or its on the slippery slope.

Will post what the indie says somewhere on here over the next 48 hours, still hoping its just some duff sensor as anything to do with carbon build up means it can happen time and time again on the MY13 onwards. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I'm lucky within about a 17 mile Radius, I've got 3 Dealers. Greens, Appleyards at 'Uddersfeld , and Dales at Kelbook, that's pretty good from a "competition for your business " point of view.

I've just had an air con condenser put in Ford's Finest, £ 480 at Stonelake. So with the 09 having only 50k on it, new steering rack, Diff and Haldex serviced, and being DPF free, it looks like it's staying for a year or two. I'm getting the Bumper painted again, some tosser has reversed into it, and I've just bought £40 worth of Tar remover and clay bars as both cars have mysteriously picked up splashes as Calderdale council repair every piece of neglected road from the last 5 years .... so that bicycles can race over them Rolling with laughter 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership
