BMW X5 WORST
Discovery Sport 2nd WORST
"Land Rover Discovery Sport
Achieves 67.5 per cent of official economy
The Discovery Sport has been a huge success for Land Rover, but its real world fuel economy is extremely disappointing and both the 2.2 DS4 and 2.0 Ingenium diesels struggle to get anywhere near their advertised economy figures.
On paper the 2.0-litre TD4 diesel should be the most efficient, with claim economy of 57.7mpg. However, in the hands of Real MPG drivers, this true figure is actually 40.4mpg. The more powerful 180PS version of the TD4 doesn't fair much better, missing its advertised 53.3mpg and instead returning an average 35mpg - 36mpg."
Evoque is 8th WORST
"Achieves 70.4 per cent of official economy
It might be a runaway sales success for Land Rover, but the Evoque has few fans when it comes to real world fuel economy. Indeed, according to Real MPG submissions, both the 2.0-litre petrols and diesels offer dismal figures, with the worst being the eD4 diesel, which provides a shortfall of up to 26mpg.
On paper the petrol Si4 engines should return 36.2mpg, but Real MPG shows that drivers actually get 23.8mpg - roughly 66 per cent of the figure that Land Rover advertises."
Obviously FL2 not included as its a discontinued model.
Although the standard test are useful as comparators ie car A consumes more fuel than car B, it still very difficult to judge what your MPG is likely to be in any car. We have a 1.0L Fiesta ecoboost and get about 40mpg. Trouble is we know manufacturers design cars to do well under the standard tests but there amazing MPGs are seldom reflected in normal UK driving.
