Haldex oil leak from core plug

I have been having a few problems with my freelander 2 whilst pulling away and turning for a few months now to which I took to 2 land rover dealers for a diagnostic check to which they could not find anything wrong. Well how wrong was they went to a mates garage yesterday to which we changed and replaced all the oils in the rear diff and haldex unit. Upon trying to draw oil out if the haldex we found that the oil was very black and sludgy so cleaned the unit out and cleaned the filter as there is no replacement filter available for the Gen 3 haldex unit.
However after road testing the freelander I find a trail of oil so we put it back on the ramp clean off and the oil to find that there is a oil leak in the core plug on the left side of the haldex unit which is caused by rust corrosion. So now I am stuck with a huge bill of £2413.59 plus the vat = £2,896.31. Landrover part number LR014073.

Sorry for the long story Embarassed but does anyone know if I could obtain a replacement Core plug.

Could someone please check as I think I have made a error in thinking my haldex is faulty as I have just looked up a picture and the leak is on the differential side so do I require a new differential. Also is that haldex or diff oil that would leak out of the plug area.

You posted a picture of Haldex 4 assembly.
Inside, the haldex extends on that brownish side.
Up until that upper breather tube connection is the Haldex side.
On the zone you named it "core plug" is Haldex oil.
Can you post a real picture of/from where the oil is leaking? With the leak?

I worked on the car last night to which we found that the sealing O ring between the Haldex and the Diff was perished as the old oil that was extracted was very black and sludgy. We also managed to Find a replacement core plug from a serious Accident damaged freelander where the freelander had gone off road and rolled over and sustained a major impact in the rear axle area.

I could not obtain a replacement Haldex filter for the Gen3 as Landrover say there isn't one available would Volvo do this filter as its Shorter and wider then the Gen 4 version yet the Top cover plate is the same.

Landrover sent me this filter lr003137 which is for the gen4 unit. They gave me the usual story of the filter is non replaceable on the gen 3. They said if i wanted a new filter i would have to buy a new haldex unit. I got this information from Matford landrover, roger young landrover and Brookwell landrover spares.
Thanks for the information regarding the filter from volvo i will be ordering a new one tomorrow.

LR003137 is the part number for the oil, not the filter.
Haldex 3 and Haldex 4 filters are not replaceable between each other.
Haldex 4 was introduced since MY2009.

Sorry i entered the wrong part number filter that land rover sent me was Lr032298 cost arround £30.
As the filter was wrong we just cleaned the old one. But had to use the metal end cap from the wrong filter as the origional cover broke as it was stuck on.
I have ordered some more oil and the correct filter from volvo this morning so i will fit these as soon as it arrives. Thanks for every ones help.

Volvo or Rover Parts?

Anyone been using Volvo or Rover Haldex Filters recently for the later Gen 4 unit ?
Could you do a filter change in situ ?
Where did you source parts and oil ?

Thanks in anticipation Thumbs Up FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

A little late for an answer but in case some one else like me was looking, you can source the parts from Haldex themselves using the Volvo part numbers listed above in Alex's post.
