United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black
oil under wheel arch cover / rear diff breather

Help !!

Haldex unit re-built / flushed by LR for 3rd time (!!!) and I have noticed after approx. 500 miles post return that oil is collecting and then dripping down from under the near side rear wheel arch cover / corner of rear bumper. I understand there is a breather tube somewhere round this area from the haldex and / or rear diff.

Can anyone advise what's happening. Should oil come from this breather pipe ?

FL2 13 plate
Thanks

Much appreciated.

Got a feeling the main dealers have over filled it and its coming out under pressure through the breather hose.

Wife giving me grief 'cos the driveway is oil splattered. Never rains but it pours !!

Don't know if it's related but one of our FL2s had the rear diff job done and shortly afterwards I found oil on the drive. Took it back and they said that it had been overfilled. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Thanks for that, I suspect the same here although the garage were defensive when I mentioned it as a possibility.

They are no taking any chances and its awaiting recovery on a trailer.

Thanks to all who assisted

Hi Arctic,

Nice to see that its not only mye that have swapped over fra a Rover 75 to a FLII Smile I use the nicname "Beinet1" on the 75andZT forum, so you have probably seen a few of my posts. I still have my KV6 saloon and plan to keep and treat this one for many years.

Hi Einar
Yes jumped in to a FL 1 first a couple of years ago, did that all up now I have an FL2 Tambora Flame, I remember following your can belt change on the OC club great work, most impressive, I am sure a few other will realise also that the FL 2 is the way forward after the R40 or MGZT Thumbs Up

Hi Arctic,

My history is something the same. My father had two FL1`s from new and I also repaired a HGF on a friends FL1 a couple of years back. I have looked at FL2`s for many years and always liked the look and what seemed to be a reliable car. Now was the time to acquire one as the prices had dropped to a reasonable level. My kids was also growing out of the backseat of my R75 Tourer, so I needed a replacement. I bought mine two months ago and has already done a lot of needed repairs. Most things are sorted now except for the rear diff. Starting to enjoy the car a lot now. I love the Tambora flame colour. I have already got many comments on that in car parks i.e.

It is needless to say that you have contributed at lot to the Rover 75 owners on the OC forum with all your experience and advice, and also the modified handbrake compensator service. Hopefully you will contribute in the same way here in the future Smile

Here are mine this morning:
