Hi,

I'm looking to possibly upgrade the current key of the 07 Freelander 2 to the new smart key.
And possibly the speedometer.
I can get hold of the following parts:
Ignition with smart key
Engine ECU
New speedometer
Body control module.

Has anybody attempted this before?
And will it just be a case of swapping out the current parts for the new?

Are you considering changing the dash to the 2013 digital?

Only reasons I can find to trade my 2007 HSE are:-

Digital dashboard.

HD GPS and better radio & rear cam

Heated steering.

And the 20k of course

Mind you if I can find a member or dealer with the right imaculate 2013 HSE LUX I would be very interested

I am sure the OZ brigade will give you a far more technical answer. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

Smart key is far more involved than just ignition lock, CJB there is also KVM, wiring involved and ccf changes.
IPC, PCM, CJB are all Vin locked so unless you have the equipment to bypass the security in place then that's just the start of your aah, mmm problems.
There's also the issue of CCF files being different between pre/post MY13.
Absolutely not "Plug & Play".
