I like it, RRS is just too pricey and large, not to say this velux will be cheap.

V6 would be nice not available in disco sport At work

Disco Short will get 240bhp before long, they have put this in the RRS, 4 pot ingenium diesel.

not fussed about ultimate hp, more the smoothness of v6

horsepower data is a bit meaningless, hp at what rpm? how much torgue backup?

basically do you have to drive it like you stole it to get the power out or is it on tap? some 4 pots are excellent ,some 6 cylinders are poor At work

In the intro to the mag (editor) said JLR need a replacement Defender now more than ever. His reasoning being the brand needs a tough as old boots model that is seen to be doing all the hard work to give credibility to the increasingly up market SUV line- up. Sure they can all hold their own but nothing better than seeing a Defender (Land Rover) being used and abused to make that link in customers minds.

He suggests they will do it for this reason alone even though the market sector will be smaller. I would like to think he is right.

Just have a look at ther BBC1 intro link at the moment with a Mountain Rescue Defender appearing every night, most companies would give anything for product placement like that

Looking at those 2 pics in the link posted by the OP, it just looks like a Disco Sport with a Range Rover badge.
Certainly not something I would be looking at in the future even if I could afford one. I would however look to the F-Pace for a future buy. (if im going to brand loyal)

As J77 has already said, IMO the entire LR/RR model line up are just different scale clones of the same car. The Evoque set the benchmark but to me is the only current LR/RR to stand out due to the coupe looks. The rest are just the same, nice cars but not for me.

Sort it out JLR !

The Evoque, love it or loath it, was unique and nothing else like it on the road. Now LR have milked the design to the point it's becoming dated.

I've got a D5 on order but can't say I'm in love with the design, I like it as I do with most of the range, but I'm not sure if I'm going to go ahead with it. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

2017 Range Rover Velar as imagined by Autocar:
This to me says it all. An artist's impression. I guarantee it's going to be nothing like it, with the exception of maybe headlights. Remember the Freelander 3 ? Another Artist impression that once again did not materialise . I take absolutely no notice of these car mags unless the actual product is on show.
Even the LR comics are guilty of this. Imagining what may be under the camouflage worn by the development vehicles doing the rounds in the backstreets of Solihull. Always failing miserably when the actual vehicle is unveiled.
Pfft...........load of rubbish.

I think you'll find it's pretty close

Have a look at the LR range, they are all clones. To think it won't look like a small RRS2 or a large Evoque, that's giving LRs design team too much credit. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

"Velar" was the name given to the pre-production model of the very first Range Rover presumably to hide the fact that it was manufactured by Land Rover.

Another WAG mobile, and it'll sell by the million. Just not for the muddy boot brigade of old (like me).
And its the RR Velour, they spelt it wrong. (remember the Starion/Stallion) FL2 Ex D2, D3, RRS, etc. now all gone.
