I saw a car with a very short number plate the other day and I wondered who has got the reg A1? I remember reading years ago that one of the big oil companies had got it on one of their cars. Anyway I put it into the MOT history website https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ and of course you need to know the make of car. I tried the obvious upmarket brands like RollsRoyce, Bentley, Vandenplas, Mercedes, LandRover (?) etc but no luck. Anyone got any ideas? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Conflicting information between different sites online. In my vehicle checker, the last car it was on that was taxed was a 2007 Mini Cooper S Auto. That car is currently untaxed and the MOT expired on 13 May 2010. The insurance Database shows it as currently being attached to a Renault Clio Dynamic Billabong.

It used to belong to a company called BTR back in the 1990's but they sold it to a private individual. BTR Dunlop was a subsidiary company of BTR |

S0 used to belong to the Lord Provost of Glasgow. I remember reading that in Scotland for many years number plate issues would start with he number 0 not 1. Updated- Waiting for a Scotland v England 6 Nations home win. 24th Feb 2018

Many years ago NSW car registration number '3' lived in our street. it parked in the street as garages around here are as rare as hens teeth! On what looked like from memory an old second hand Toyota Camry or similar, of all things! They could swap number '3' for half the houses in the street! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Not quite as good as A1, but near to us I regularly see the plate ABC 123 which I reckon must be worth a few quid.

A quick check on "TotalCarCheck" shows the registration A1 to be on a 2007 Mini Cooper S auto that's been on SORN since about 2010.

A neighbour had B16 NOB with the "6" made to look a bit like "G" and I often see an old VW with 6666 or 66666 (can't remember if it is 4 or 5 sixes).
