Who owns reg A1?

I saw a car with a very short number plate the other day and I wondered who has got the reg A1? I remember reading years ago that one of the big oil companies had got it on one of their cars. Anyway I put it into the MOT history website https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/ and of course you need to know the make of car. I tried the obvious upmarket brands like RollsRoyce, Bentley, Vandenplas, Mercedes, LandRover (?) etc but no luck. Anyone got any ideas? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
5 x FL2 4 manual + 1 auto

I think it's still owned by SP tyres who got it when they bought out Dunlop.

It was owned in the late 60s by Iain Mills who was the chief engineer on the Denovo run flat tyre project, he later became the MP for Mediden.

I drove a Jaguar XJ-12 with the A1 plate during a 'burst run' demonstration at Goodwood in about '72.

Conflicting information between different sites online. In my vehicle checker, the last car it was on that was taxed was a 2007 Mini Cooper S Auto. That car is currently untaxed and the MOT expired on 13 May 2010. The insurance Database shows it as currently being attached to a Renault Clio Dynamic Billabong.

I thought it belonged to Lord Montagu who owned the Beaulieu Motor Museum. The fact that its not on a road going vehicle makes me think the Beaulieu museum still own it. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

It used to belong to a company called BTR back in the 1990's but they sold it to a private individual. BTR Dunlop was a subsidiary company of BTR

Locally to us there is a BMW with the number "01 10". Must be a computer programmer I guess!

I had a friend some 30/40 years ago who owned an Aston Martin DB4/5? with the Registration number TEN 10.
I must say that as a motorsport competitor I coveted that number.

Never found out what happened to it as he moved to Wales and last I heard he died of alcohol poisoning.
Not surprised at that though as his favourite tipple was Port and Brandy.

Many years ago NSW car registration number '3' lived in our street. it parked in the street as garages around here are as rare as hens teeth! On what looked like from memory an old second hand Toyota Camry or similar, of all things! They could swap number '3' for half the houses in the street! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Not quite as good as A1, but near to us I regularly see the plate ABC 123 which I reckon must be worth a few quid.

The car it's on? Ferrari, Aston? Nope it's on a 2002 Ford Fiesta! Used to be on a Metro van before that!

A quick check on "TotalCarCheck" shows the registration A1 to be on a 2007 Mini Cooper S auto that's been on SORN since about 2010.

Clearly the reg number is worth considerably more than the car it's on.

A neighbour had B16 NOB with the "6" made to look a bit like "G" and I often see an old VW with 6666 or 66666 (can't remember if it is 4 or 5 sixes).

Off topic; a friend had some made to measure golf shoes with his initials in solid gold on them. He only wore them once. His initials are FU.

That's funny because when I was in Walsall today I saw a woman driving a car with the Reg number BI6 BUT
I was smiling all the way down the road wondering whether her husband had bought the number plate as a gift !!!
I was so taken back by the number plate I couldn't remember what the car was. Jaguar x-type sport gone
