Fair point Taz, it sounds unlikely . 44 tonnes gross vehicle weight is UK max, about 28 tonnes payload., assuming that you can get it in the volume of the trailer. Engines would be delivered on custom made returnable stillages. So if you said 5 packed engines per tonne, 140 theoretical per truck ( , that gives us 280 engines at just under 11 grand each! 2009 GS Auto Zermatt Silver - Sold June 21 after 10 years of ownership

It really depends on the value of the engine. retail, wholesale or cost, as it is a media value it will be at LR retail prices, so probably well under 1M to JLR, you certainly won't pay 11,000 for the engine when it is included in the car. I would suspect insider collusion to produce the paperwork. my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

What MartynB said. more if you had a twin axle unit and trailer (flatbed) rather than tri axles and box trailer. Common sense isn't very common.

If that report is to be believed then the engines are £37,500 each |

Back in the 60's my Dad worked at Guy's Motors in Wolverhampton, which I believe is where the JLR engine plant is now situated. I recall him telling me that they regularly had lorry engines go missing and never worked out how they got out of the gate. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

I once worked at an Atomic Energy Authority research establishment that had a small engineering facility and some guys started making small trailers with left over bits of metal and then driving out of the gate with the empty trailer behind. (I presume that they took the wheels in). The police on the gate let them out OK and this apparently went on for some time. They were found out when someone had a problem with his trailer and rang up and asked to speak to someone in the "trailer department". 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Many years ago at the Home Office depot in Branston they discovered that a large number of phosphor bronze castings had gone missing. One employee was caught and charged with theft but they thought he must have had an accomplice because he only had an old ladies bicycle with a wicker basket on the front.

My Dad told me of a story of how he was leaving work one day and a guy on a bike went past him and for some reason swerved around somebody and fell off his bike. The security guy came up to see if he was alright as he hadn't got up off the ground straight away. Turns out that under his overcoat the guy had two engineering vices tied to rope around the back of his neck.

So long as my D5 has an engine it goes into build on the 10th March. It's close enough to the new VED without delays. But I suppose if I don't an engine, am I VED exempt 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200 |
