Moving to Wirral war zone (or so the Co-op thinks!}

I currently live in East Yorkshire and am about to move to the Wirral. My car is parked on the road at the moment but will be garaged in Wirral.

My renewal just came through for EY for around £350 so I thought I'd get a quote for new home, £1650!!!!

Anyone here live in the area who gets reasonable quotes? I've got it down to about £620 with LVI.

I've 6 years NCD and 3 points on licence.

Thanks in advance. 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40

It is actually a lovely place to live, my wife grew up their, I think the problem is that insurance companies class it as 'Merseyside' and up the premiums accordingly.

Bizarrely I checked household insurance and that is slightly cheaper! 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40

Its a real mystery how they work - years ago I ran a Granada 3.0 ghia and the day before I moved from Gravesend to SE London I called the company who said they could not offer cover at the new address 'for that sort of car!' Rearranged alternative cover and yet when I bought an Impreza a year later that same company offered a decent quote on it. I'd have thought the Impreza would have been more of a risk on the street in SE London than a standard Granada, but clearly not.

@howdenbiker

I live on the wirral on coast near New Brighton and currently insured with the CO-OP for the Freelander and my re newal came in @ £420 fully comp with extras, cars on the drive wont fit in the garrage, what area are you moving to? The wirral on the whole is great every one knocks it ie merseyside ir Birkenhead stigma but tbh its like anywere with the odd rough area. I know allot of peeps who have come to visit and gone home with a different impression and not realised what we have on our doorstep all free HSE TD4 Stornoway Grey ★ Rear Spoiler ★ Black Leather Interior ★ Panoramic Roof ★ Navigation with Bluetooth ★ 19 " Alloys ★ Alpine Stereo 10 Disc Auto changer and Ipod connection and lots of other nice toys ★

Hi Voodoo, we are moving to Thingwall, I've six years NCD but 3 points on licence. I called them to discuss but they cannot give me a firm quote until I actually move there apparently.
Hopefully I can get a sensible quote from them. I've tried several other companies and £600 is best price so far.

Lorna was brought up in West Kirby and we have made lots of trips to Wirral, I am looking forward to coming over there, hopefully in two weeks Smile 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40

Thingwall is nice area I have my insurance with the co op and last years quote was £420 I do have allot more years NCD than you but I don't think it would make that much difference as your post code is would be posher than mine lol so that should offset my NCD HSE TD4 Stornoway Grey ★ Rear Spoiler ★ Black Leather Interior ★ Panoramic Roof ★ Navigation with Bluetooth ★ 19 " Alloys ★ Alpine Stereo 10 Disc Auto changer and Ipod connection and lots of other nice toys ★

Its the excess that can be a shocker should you need to pay it.

My Insurance cost is £340 for class 1 business use, a named driver, 14000 annual milage. Protected no claims with a 21 day car, and Legal Protection. Excess total is £200.

My main problem was postcode, £350 in East Yorkshire to £900+ in Wirral with the co-op. 2013 GS Baltic Blue - part exchanged now for Volvo V40
