Rear Wheel Lock

Has anyone experienced rear wheel lock when pulling away from park. I noticed for the first time a rear wheel spin (OFS rear wheel) when trying to pull away from an overnight parked position on my gravel drive, I had used the parking brake overnight and it seemed as though the brake was still locked on (on one wheel at least). After a couple of attempts at D and then R the lock released and the car moved off normally, the wheel spin was only on one of the rear wheels. I suspect a locked on parking brake but whether it was the parking brake linings stuck to the drum or the whole mechanism locked on I do not know. Any experiences or any suggestions on this ??

Parking brakes can freeze on in Winter, that is why many of the older drivers used to just put a manual box in a low gear and not use the handbrake. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Correct snappa, I often run the car up and down the road after a wash in Winter to warm off the wet brake surfaces, it also prolongs the disc surface from pitting. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Gentlemen, thanks for all your replies and comments. I guess since the parking brake surfaces do not get exposed to high temperatures like the disc surfaces there is a risk of rust forming and binding the linings to the drum.
