The original host of UK TV's University Challenge quiz, Bamber Gascoigne, died at the age of 87. But which of the following statements is not true of the much loved presenter?

Gascoigne did not appear in The Young Ones. However, he did inspire an episode, Bambi, in which the characters represented Scumbag College (above) on University Challenge. Griff Rhys-Jones mimicked Gascoigne's presenting style as the host. Gascoigne was behind Share My Lettuce, which showcased rising stars Kenneth Williams and Maggie Smith in the 1950s, while the mediaeval home he inherited from an aunt - West Horsley Manor - is known as Button House, in Ghosts.
