The port is in the drivers foot well above the accelerator pedal.

Just wondered if it could be the throttle body,my understanding is it closes to shut the engine down (starves it of air) now if it jammed in the shut position then it would not allow it to fire up due to lack of air???

Isn't it the case that the throttle body fails in the open position and the problem it causes is a loud clattering as it tries to close and a very lumpy engine shutdown?

I think I'd be looking elsewhere - not sure where though.

Easiest thing to go for is the fuel filter if not changed for a while. If it then refuses to fire up with a fully charged battery not a lot more I could add.

Not heard of anyone talk of air locks but some cars years ago would stop if the tank breather failed so easy way to check is open fuel cap an listen for air rushing around.

I assume its not recently got soaked or just been refuelled ? FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

I was under the impression it closes when you turn off and then opens for normal running. If it closed then jammed closed could this cause it not to start again?

filter changed less than a year and I would of thought it would show reduced power as the flow was reducing through it. any one use a good code reader for the freelander

Ok car still not starting, checked throttle body and flap ok. The cranks sensor was replaced 3 months ago so this should be ok any ideas before the low loader comes to take her away? Just disconnected the battery and charging it for one last try

Not necessarily Shocked

Check out this site https://www.yourmechanic.com/article/sympt...ion-sensor

A faulty camshaft sensor results in numerous problems with a car, including an illuminated check engine light, a poorly running engine and difficulty or failure to start. No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

thats the thing ,no mil light on the dash.Leaning towards fuel filter but when the wife drove it home it was fine,I thought you'd get reduced power first .Cranks sensor wasn't gen landrover .May have to bit the bullet this time and then get a good obd reader ,icarsoft or something

I'm from the keep it simple school of mechanics - what has changed recently? Is the 1st question
Could that explain what is now happening? Is the 2nd question
Why would it happen? Is the 3rd

You have answered all 3
1. = Cam sensor changed
2. Symptoms are the same for failure of sensor
3. You now tell us you used a non-LR part

I know where I would be looking Whistle No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

Hi,
the crank sensor not cam sensor was changed 3 months ago and cured the hiccup the car occasionally had. We used to have a scenic and rubbish used to collect around the camshaft sensor and confuse the signal. Just been reading about the camshaft breaking on the fuel pump…..that has me worried!! The other thing is when cranking the car the rev counter is pulsing so I think the crank sensor is picking up a signal

Just a note of caution
Reading a LR (LRO?) mag this weekend, and they had a section on changing the crank sensor on the FL2. Final footnote was a warning that there are several options for the crank sensor, they all fit, but are different ie number of pins or same number of pins but in a different order. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner
