But it is different in many respects from what is proposed for the UK.

Spending this amount on a train that will save 30 mins on a trip is just daft, especially when you take in to account the upheaval of peoples houses and land that is not suitable to run trains through, like the marsh land near me and the ancient woodland that they will have to level to build it

Save a few billion and update the current stations, trains and carriages to make people not mind spending an extra 30 mins on them, think of it been currently EasyTrains compared to Emirates Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I really don't understand HS2, I thought all the oiks already lived in London!

They should spend their millions to create a good east west communications north of Watford, say Manchester/Liverpool to Hull via Leeds etc so the ports are joined up, movement of goods is far more important than oiks.
