I replaced the rear brake pads on my 2014 LR2 and now I am getting a parking brake fault error on the dash. When I try to apply and release the parking brake it seems to work. Any idea how to fix this?

To quote the workshop manual:

Any repairs required to safety critical items such as steering, brakes, suspension or supplemental restraint system should be carried out by a Land Rover Dealer. Repairs to such items should NEVER be attempted by untrained individuals.


That said the copy of the manual I have downloaded only has cable type application and at 2014 I assume yours is a Electronic Hand Brake so not able to add any real value bar get the fault code checked and cleared.

Did you follow this procedure ? I copied this a while ago as I have the Electronic version. I suspect where it says "Deactivation" it means REACTIVATION.

The EPB (electronic parking brake) is no problem providing you put it in service mode; 

Procedure is: 

Ensure its in park or neutral and the park brake deactivated and ignition turned on. 

1. Press and hold the parking brake switch in the release position. 

2. Wait 2 seconds 

3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal in the wide open throttle position. 

4. Wait 2 seconds 

5. Turn ignition off and on immediately whilst still finger on park button and foot on throttle. 

6. An audible noise will confirm service mode, it will also be displayed on dash. 

You will hear the brake motors activate for a while. 

Deactivation 

with ignition on. 

1. Press and hold the parking brake switch in the apply position. 

2. Wait 2 seconds 

3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal in the wide open throttle position. 

4. Wait 2 seconds 

5. Turn ignition off and on again. keeping finger on park button and foot on throttle.

Yesterday the parking brake fault disappeared and everything still seems to be working correctly. I didn't do anything to make it go away, but glad its gone now!

I would keep hold of that car, it fixes itself and will be worth a fortune then
