I got the same dilemma. I love the D4 but the running cost it is double to the Freelander 2, Disco Sport or Evoque... i think it depends how much are you going to use the capabilities of the D4

I would definitely love the D4 but what ££ do you reckon I could realistically find one for this September? |

I went for the D4 and the day to day running costs are not double. Road tax is £65 extra, insurance £100 and mpg is c.29 as opposed to 33 mpg but with the service pack at my modest mileage there is a saving in excess of £1k to be had over 5 years . Obviously if you factor in depreciation it may be double. |

D4 it's a different beast, it gets my vote. Mine is just entry level SE with xenons and privacy glass the only options. I came from a HSE DS, but we won't talk about it, still to raw

OH is still looking at the Ewok convertible, I'm not so sure, yes it's sunny here but at 40deg in mid summer the drop head will be less drop, nothing worse than cooking in the sun when at stand still, even travelling it won't be a cool breeze more a hot blast from a hair dryer. The boot is ridiculously small and the rear seats don't fold forwards, she says it's a sexy car, I say not practical, we would certainly need a second car or the rear seats would get a hammering as just about everything would need to be loaded on them including the dog.

Yes I know about that, same weight as the FL HSE, seems LR have dropped the 150bhp option on the car only engine option now is the 180bhp. The weight increase seems to be in body rigidity as there is little or no scuttle shake, however with a 100kph max speed limit on dual carriageways and 80kph on single roads and anywhere can be reached in an hour performance is not critical and neither is fuel consumption.
