Water Ingress Through Bonnet Release Lever

Hi all

I am new to the forum, Iv'e had a few problems with the Freelander already. This one I can't solve on my own though.

After the recent heavy rain and floods in the midlands, the passenger footwell ended up with an inch of water in it Big Cry , all other footwells are bone dry. After taking the car apart at the weekend I have tracked it down to the hole in the body in white for the location of the bonnet release lever.

Its a drip at a time when its not raining, but this may have built up over time or the heavy rain and flood could of sped this up.

A few things to note:
. The drain holes for the A-pillar/scuttle which are visible form under the car are not blocked.
. No sunroof.
. Air con drain is fine.
. The way the water is directed from the scuttle is not past by the bonnet release lever hole anyway.

So the only thing I can think of is that the grommet at the bulkhead has become dislodge and water is dripping along the cable and eventually into the hole into the cabin. But would there really be that much water from this?

The grommet looks hard to get to, so may be easier to just put some sealant on the hole in the cabin and hope for the best.

Hope someone has got some better ideas about this than me. Bow down

Thanks

Chloe

No!

But don't use silicone, use acrylic automotive sealer from Sika or similar. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!
