2008 auto = quite quick up to 80mph (130kph) steadily then up to 100mph (160kph), and then crawls up to 112 (180kph)

This is of course where the law allows.

You have to remember this is a 2 liter, 2 tonne, diesel, automatic with the profile of a barn door.

Don't know what you are doing trying to get to those speeds anyway. Very dangerous in India!

"Speed limits would be varying in various states and it can be according to the vehicles as well. These Maximum Speed Limit of Motor Vehicles are set through the local government and people are required to follow all of them. If you are driving on the expressway and then it is common to drive on the speed till 100 to 120 km/hr. India is known to have very less expressways and one of the notable is Mumbai and Pune Expressway. It is highly recommended that you should avoid using the motorcycles and you speed should not be more than the 80 km/hr. These days, highway police is making usage of automated instruments through which they can track the speed of vehicles. If you would not be following the rules and regulations and then it may result in fine. The severe case can be you can get arrested or you would be required to make the fine as well" 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)

Understood. Low power can only be 1. lack of fuel or 2. Lack of air. I presume you have no dash indications of faults.

Always, the first thing to check is the fuel filter - when was it last changed? If more than 6 months/10,000Km, change it. (I would change it anyway)
Same now with the air filter - dirty or no record of changing, Change it too.
Now you should have good fuel and air. If you still have problems, I would get a code read from LR Dealer or specialist.

Faults could be maybe the throttle body has failed in the "close" or part open position, which will limit air flow. Also the EGR Valve can fail which will influence air flow. Also check all air ducts from air cleaner to turbo, to intercooler, to inlet manifold. Splits can lose pressure but you should hear this, plus have a fault indication on the dash.

Your symptoms look to be turbo failure. I am surprised you do not have a "reduced engine performance" message. Check all electrical connectors possibly disturbed when the turbo was changed. 10MY (Sept 09) TD4 HSE Auto in Stornoway Grey (Now Gone)
