Whose boot kept opening itself

as the title says

I recall somebody having a problem with their boot unlocking itself, of its own accord.

Yesterday, I got in my car, didn't notice any sign on the dash saying it was open (but didn't really look at the display after the systems check messgae went out) drove off, the boot flung open spilling its contents on to the road.

Thought i might have accidently pressed the boot button on the keyfob.

This morning however, boot unlocked it self again, and also did it when i took my keys out and opened the door to get out.

Wondering what the outcome was, as i can't find the thread using search Wink Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Can the fault be repeated with both keys units? Might be a duff transponder/switch on the key unit.

There is a known faulty micro switch in the lock which is replaceable by the stealer - call out LRA who will fill the lock with WD40 (which lasts for about a week) and tell you to go to your dealer

I had a tailgate switch fail about a year ago, water ingress had caused corrosion and in my case the switch failed to operate at all. I guess once corrosion takes place its a matter of luck whether the switch fails or possibly starts to 'short' which would give rise to your problem. Then of course this is linked to the 'frozen' switch issue, where the moisture/water freezes around the switch !!!

Nice loaner though .... guess you told them to take their time fixing yours Whistle Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!

noticed this morning a crushing ice feel when going in the boot, so they be looking at that too Thumbs Up

Been making appointments up all morning to drive the RRS, nice drive over the back roads and narrow lanes to Guisley this morning, and then across to Birstall and back down the motorway

before all this I had to nip back to my dealers to get a house key out of the door, made a point of getting the speed camera detector aswell as the TDV8 is a beast of an engine Twisted Evil Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
