United Kingdom 2012 Freelander 2 SD4 Sport Auto Barolo Black
Freelander 2 srs fault

Hi all,

I am looking for some advice on a 2012 lr2.

I recently bought a sport le as a cat d write off for my wife. It had very minor panel damage and now looks and drives perfectly. The trouble I have is the airbag light is on despite no air bags being deployed.

I hooked up a icarsoft this week and it came up with both seat tensioners and another fault related to the seat.

However the tensioner dont look like they have deployed.

Does any one have any ideas where to start? I dont want to waste money on pretenzioners and then find its the ecu etc.

Any help or advice would be welcome.
Thanks,

L19YDM

I had this once not on a Land rover but a Vauxhall for a crash repair. Had to take it to the main dealer for a reset. Once done all fine and didn't get charge anything for it. MY13 HSE LUX Aintree Green

Get someone with a better diagnostic tool to check the fault. Icarsoft is a good basic tool but has its limitations. Only dead fish go with the flow

Ok thanks, so the icarsoft reset may not be as good as say a dealers for reseting faults?

When I reset the light does go out but then comes back on almost instantly.

I'll give a dealers a try first, bit gutted as I got the carsoft as an investment rather than a trip to the dealers each time.

Thanks

A proper diagnostic tool, besides the error, it will give you also the reason for that error. The reason comes as a subcode to the main error code.
Anyway, check the connections and the resistance of the pretensioner.

Hi Alex, what should the resistance be? Tried a search on here but only came back with my post.

Thanks

As Alex says, check the connections. they are the usual source of the problem, although in your case it sounds more serious. btw if the problem IS a poor connection it will often show up as a more serious fault on the diagnostics. A Dealer once tried to sell me an expensive new airbag when all it needed was a bit of a fiddle with a connector. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
