Sales increase and customer service slips.
I'm still in limp mode waiting for them to find a replacement car, they didn't call me back yesterday and over an hour ago they promised a call back within 30 minutes.
Soaring sales is good but if you don't back it up with good CS then it will come crashing down.

Ring customer services and still no vehicles, really poor, really really poor service and not calling me back to keep me informed is bad.

Three days the car has been faulty now with restricted performance and it is not safe to go on a motorway, it just wont accelerate, JLR are doing all they can to prevent having to hire a car which would cost them money.

£800 for an extended warranty and this is how you are treated. I can see me ending up it a bloody fiesta or something at this rate.

In contrast my X3 went into BMW last week for a recall, something to do with the ISOFIX mounts, I also asked them to have a look at the power tailgate as sometimes it seemed slow (must admit I was expecting the 'coz its an intermediate thing it seemed fine to us' response). Was given 66 plate loaner with 500 miles on the clock. Received a phone call early afternoon to say recall work done, boot struts replaced, fuel filter changed as they have recently upgraded them and to collect after two hours as they are just about to valet it. Picked up the X3 and both inside and out were immaculate - they even emptied the doors bins out and put some loose change in one of the cupholders that they had found under the seat. (probably kept the notes for themselves lol)

I am a huge LR fan, but this doesn't make for good reading.

BMW and Mercedes appear to have got the CS bang on. Personally, I can't bring myself to buy a BMW SUV, not that they are a bad car, but I can't forgive BMW for the fact that they once owned Land Rover and still ended up making SUV's that get stuck on wet grass.

I know they drive very well indeed, and do certain things better than the Land Rover.

But unless massive improvements are made to the Disco Sport, I don't know what I will do. We have had our FL2 for just over three years now, and it looks like it will stay for another two. Its 4 years old later this month and has only 34500 miles on it.

If I move away from LR, it will probably be for the Mercedes GLC, but they need to offer a range of petrol engines, as we are all going to get screwed with diesel in the next few years. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Sorry, but it works the other way too - very much depends on the dealer and how busy they are:

My purchased new BMW got fuel contamination (water / silt), when it was a year-old, from contaminated supermarket diesel. Needless to say, was not covered by warranty. Took 10 weeks for them to sort it out - 'awaiting new fuel tank - 2 days, awaiting workshop space - 2 days, needs new fuel lines - 2 days, needs new hp fuel pump - 5 days as none in the uk, needs new injectors - only one in the uk - 5 days, awaiting workshop space - 5 days etc etc etc ........ When I got the car back, after the £7,000 worth of work it stank of diesel inside, was covered in grubby fingerprints and they did not even give me a follow up call to check if it was all working ok.

Because of this, I will not be buying another BMW.

My experience of LR dealers has been excellent. The icing on the cake was getting the fuel tank wiring problem TSB carried out 3 years out of warranty for £84  FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green

FL1 HSE TD4 Manual Black - Gone.

Yes it depends on the dealer. Put mine in for a minor warranty job this week - the salesman I bought it from was genuinely embarrassed and offered me his own car if they couldn't find a loaner. They booked me out a new model Disco, but that hadn't come back when I took the car in, so they loaned me a new Disco Sport instead and apologised for it being a manual! (Nice gearbox by the way - liked it as much as my auto!) Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.
