Haldex and fuel gauge

Hi folks,
On Wednesday I got the "transmission fault -reduced traction. All special programs off" message. Restarting the car failed to clear it. I wasn't surprised. Having had the front transfer box replaced and the rear diff bearing done it was only fair that the haldex get in on the act. However the message hasn't come back since. Yesterday my fuel gauge started to play up. It won't show more than half full despite having a full tank. im not leaking fuel and I'm not using more fuel than normal so it must be the gauge.
My question is, am I looking at an electrical gremlin here or two distinct problems? I expect the latter but thought I'd run it by the combined wisdom on here.

Thanks Yorky!

I can find lots on the transmission error and other threads on the fuel gauge issue. I expect they are separate faults.
I just wondered that because they happened in the same time frame whether there might be an electrical problem that might be causing both. Clutching at straws I know..

Ahhh the extra earth lead! Now there's a thought. No harm in trying!
Thanks Yorky.
