I am looking at fitting the rear screen connectivity system, keep the kids quiet when on holiday, however I am not sure what DVD player to use and where to mount it. Any advice?

Also I am looking at doing the install myself. Has anyone else done this and if so any advice greatly appreciated ?

this was a subject on one of the other forums, and quite a few people said, if it was movies that the kids wanted to watch, a couple of iPod Touches would be the easiest option

Just seen one of these go for £245 on eBay. All brand new, still in the original packaging etc. I assume that was a lot less than it should be !! Just out of interest, does the system require a separate (video) input e.g DVD player or iPod or does it play DVD's from the CD stacker ?

Yes you need a seperate DVD player or AV source. I am looking at putting a DVD player and play station two under the passenger seat. A little project to keep me busy over easter.

Install looks straight forward, but it would be interesting to get the views of someone who has done it.

I have just finished fitting the rear screen connectivity system to my car. Total time for install was three hours.

I was going to do a photo album of the install, unfortunately the camera died after the second photo. Instead I have done an illustrated instalation guide and placed it in my gallery.

What kind of AV cables does it take? and does it only work with the supplied headphones? Phil

Install is not daunting, just take your time.

The kit has standard AV inputs for both screens in the new rear cubby box. The kit also comes with three sets of short AV leads that go from two to one connection (if you want to have the same source on both screens).

Looking through the manual that comes with the kit the IR output for the headphones is on each screen and has user selectable frequencies that you can select if you wanted to use other IR headphones. The supplied headphones work fine (so long as you don't have the front radio up to loud).

My only niggle at the moment is that when I connect up a DVD player I will have AV leads going into the top of the rear AV inputs. Fine if you are using a portable source but a bit untidy considering I intend to use an installed source. I have ordered a Veba AV2705 DVD player to fit under the passenger seat as the main AV source, so when it comes I might add a few extra AV inputs concealed under the passenger seat and leave the rear AV inputs if I want to use another source in the future. It'll keep the wiring all concealed.

My 3year old doesn't like headphones, but his recaro child seat has built in speakers in the headrest so he can listen to it normally.

Its an aux in socket...
like npinks, don't think my son would like to wear headphones...so I think portable IR speakers, if such exists.

a recaro monza seatfix is the seat

plugging it in to the rear headphone, they seem a little quiet, but i haven't tried the ipod to compare
