I managed to get hold of some pro rack whispbars off a forum member... and they are utterly brilliant. I leave the bars on all the time with no noticeable difference to mpg and only a little extra wind noise through the sun roof.

I’ll second that - they were brilliant when I had ‘em! Hi Rog!

The OP asked about Roof Rails, which run front to back of the vehicle. Cross bars run from side to side of the vehicle.

I have original LR cross bars, 2 sets (4), but have the non original rails. The paint has come off a little bit on the brace cross bar castings at each end. Others have had the same problem but worse than mine.

The Roof rails are good and useful, but can be very expensive when you also have to add on cross bars. Just getting a decent set of cross bars will still work out cheaper than rails and bars combined, and all he says he wants to carry is bikes so cross bars should also do the job but for less money. |
