Summer wheels

After having a negative experience trying to buy a set of wheels via ebay I found a set of Discovery Sport 18"s on Gumtree not far from me. Wheels described 'as new' condition. Tyres are 3 Pirelli Scorpion Verde and 1 Michelin Latitude sport , all around the 6mm mark. Advertised for £370, I managed to buy them for £300. So after a wash and a polish they're fitted this afternoon. These will be my summer wheels and the standard 17"s with the General Grabbers will now be for winter use.

Ha. I was looking at those as well but waited too long. Well done. They look good. My own wheels are getting tatty after sitting for long periods of time over lockdown with brake dust on them. I’ll keep looking.

Considering a set of grey Velar 19’s with Continentals.

There a few decent sets on NI gumtree at present. I personally think 18" wheels are as big as I'd ever go. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

My car came with the ten spoke turbine style 19’s as standard so that’s what I’m used to. The Velar 19’s seem to fill the arch a little better.

Simon. Is that the guy off Sandyknowes roundabout. That’s where I bought mine last week. A great deal.

Same guy. He had them on last week and then they disappeared, only to pop up again this morning. I didn’t let them slip through my fingers a second time. Haven’t got them fitted yet but the car is going in for a pre MOT check next week and I’ll get them done then.

Is the rolling radius of a 235/60 R18 tyre the same as that of the 235/65 R17 one? Interestingly the spare with a steel wheel is 205/65 R17. Will a 235/60 R18 fit in the spare wheel well?

As far As I know there is little or no difference. There is a table on here somewhere giving the figures for all sizes of rims.

As for the spare wheel, mine is a full size 19 alloy with 235/55/19 tyre, factory supplied.

Thanks. I just bought a matching wheel on fleaBay (in Enniskillen!) to use as a spare but it’s just a bare wheel so I’ll need to find a suitable tyre. A part worn one would do nicely!
