The one at the back is nothing to worry about - they pretty much do all do that! If it worries you replacing the original clip on the air intake ducing with a jubilee type usually fixes it.

The air intake have a bit of oil inside coming from the breather attached to it, nothing to worry about.

Thank you both
It might be since there wasn't any trace of oil on the ground. I'll speak with the dealer tomorrow about this. Good to know the intake duct is nothing to worry about ![]() So... if everything pans out right, I'll buy the car as it looks like a decent buy that can still last 5-10 years with the right owner ![]() |

It's lived in Romania all its life. The roads there are "interesting", and many unpaved. It's probably covered in dust or worse. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone 300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease 200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France FR2 TD4 GS - Gone FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge. |

Long story short... I bought it
As I said... doubt it was ever washed. I picked up the car this Friday and had the chance to see how it runs over 500 miles or so trip this weekend. Where I expected a somewhat poorly maintained engine in need of some extra maintenance work, the ride was smooth without any hiccups and the car proved dependable at low speeds (400 kg worth of compost bags for my greenhouse and tools) going uphill and at motorway speeds (85-90 mph mostly). All my worries have vanished - this car performed very well exceeding my expectations. To quote a friend of mine that seen it, "this is the sound of a healthy diesel engine". Hopefully, with adequate care, it will stay like this for a loooong time ![]() |
