need antenna advice? 433mhz and 868mhz??

I just bought a second hand thermostat that can be run by my iphone, alot smarter than the old one i had

the network gateway, has a small antenna that screws on the side, this has seperated from the brass screw on bit, looks like wires snapped too, so i want to purchase a new antenna

I borrow one from another device and the unit works as should, so no need to send it back

The company have told me the antenna works on 433mhz and 868mhz duel band frequency

I borrowed the antenna from my Swann Eye HD IP camera as it was the same connection, ( i don't know what freq that is)

Looking online antennas look to be alsorts of ranges from single 433mhz to 2.4ghz but i cant find one that does both 433mhz and 868mhz

not clued up on frequencies will a 2.4ghz work just as good as a 433mhz and include the 868mhz frequency as well Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

All these things are similar, if it works on the aerial you have that's OK, the transmission is only from your router to the controller so any WIFI device aerial will work, it may even work without an aerial if it is close enough to the router Smile my PC is slightly to the right of Genghis

JUST be very careful if it is in the range of 433.000 mhz and 2.4 ghz those are both in AMATUR RADIO working frequencies you might suddenly find working/ not working due to legitimate high power working ...

once was useing my 70cms (433.000) gear in my car and had great fun watching a guy walk away from his car and 6 times I pressed the mike and set off his car alarm and he walked back each time eventually left him scratching his head as I drove off (cheap out of freq range spec car alarm ....)

but beware cheap is not always CHEAP ...!
