Haldex Gen 3

Could anyone tell me if you can select any of of the four terrain modes - with just the ignition switched on, or do you require the engine to be running ? My system appears to be working correctly, but I'm sure in the past I could select through the range with only the ignition switched on.

Just had a go with mine and it does not alter anything,only with the engine running.
