LR are taking the Censored with some of these options that should be standard on a premium car . Heated steering wheel is an option but ambient lighting is standard, what would I rather have warm hands or stupid lights around the cabin on a winters day .. more bling than practicality.

bahahahahahahhaah...... obviously LR are taking the JLRA's Australian approach on marketing their vehicles now, everything is optional, you just get the body and wheels and start from there!!!! Rolling with laughter MY15

Seen the official pics this morning. Other than the size I think I'd struggle to tell the difference from a DS. I'm sure it's a lovely and capable car, but visually it doesn't work for me. FL2 TD4 GS 60 reg Facelift - so many issues
2019 DS. Terribly unreliable.
Sold DS for a 2021 Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Fingers crossed....
Sold Outlander for a 2014 SD4 SE Tech because I’m mental
Now greatly regret selling the Outlander. MPG of the FL2 is atrocious and so are the fuel bills. Fun though 😎
Couldn’t afford the fuel bills so back to an older Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV. Significantly better than I remembered it to be…

From the side they're very similar although proportions look better on DS - from front and rear they're very different Confused Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

That is one ugly car!

I know the reasoning behind off-setting the rear reg plate but it looks stupid, the whole design looks like the crude incarnations that the motoring press produce to show what they think a car will look like (quite often it is ugly and nothing like what it ends up being)

what is the reasoning behind the off set number plate?

Isn't it a once piece tailgate now? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

What's the point of the wee ledge at the tailgate ? Ok I get the point that it's to sit on but it's powered , so you have to wait on the powered tailgate to open ... sllllooowwly then wait for the wee ledge to fold down , by the time all that happens I would have taken root . Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!

from a photo i saw it looks like it is stowed under a ledge that lifts up, so if you have things in the boot, like my dog cage, you're not going to be able use it, or is it a panel that is always there and you have to fold it down each time you want to use the boot

It's to fill the roll of a split tailgate, because they couldn't be bothered engineer one. Stays in upright position and lowered when required via a switch in the boot.

The offset number plate is to show it has Discovery DNA, apparently, as in 27 years the Disco has always had an offset plate. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

But in 27 years there was always a reason to offset the plate. Now it's just a reminder that LR were too cheap-skate to give us a proper split gate.

Here's a video which shows the fold down ledge.

Also a good one for the dog lovers.

Sammy will have to get used to the electric motors whirring as the tailgate lowers (mine hated that in a V70 I had on loan for a while - jumping out in fright and nearly getting crushed between the lowering tailgate and the aperture).

Sammy will also have to live without the low cut side windows and especially the low cut rear window, which has given mine a brilliant view out.

Poor old Sammy won't have a lower tailgate that's substantial enough to keep him in place while the upper door can be left open on hot days.

As Sammy won't be that different from my own, big boned, Border Collie, he would appear to have noticeably less floor area to stretch out on too.

Poor Sammy Sad

The car lowers by 6cm and only on the hse, if sammy can't jump an extra 6cm is a sad day .. more bling than practicality Do it now ! Your a long time dead !!
