Towing

I've recently wasted a lot of money on a boat, I have the 3.2 V6 freelancer 2 with automatic transmission.
I've found it a bit slow to change down gear when going uphill, I've always had manuals up til this car, how do others cope with this issue, can you flip into the semiautomatic position while going up hill and change down gear yourself?

Thanks [/s]

Have you tried pushing "shift" across to sport mode???
Are you aware that by pushing the shift across but not pushing up or down this puts the gearbox in "automatic sport mode"??
Of course you can select gears manually, it's what the gearbox is designed for Thumbs Up
Do you have LR tow electrics??
If so the car will know your towing and should change the auto box map effectively holding gears longer and quicker to up change.
If you don't have genuine LR tow electrics it may not be triggering the towing mode for the gearbox. MY15

Thanks for the reply, as I'm new to the automatic thing (always driven manuals) I wasn't sure about trying the sport mode for towing
I'm pretty sure they're land rover electrics as it was fitted by the dealer, it was an ex demo car, this was also a bit of a headache as it seems trailers in Australia have a different plug to the one on the vehicle (which I assume is a European plug). Not a major pain, just had to get the right adapter... but the car didn't automatically change anything when I towed

Next time I have to tow the boat I'll try the sport mode
