United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Indus Silver
My new 2007 HSE manual TD4

Afternoon all!
I am now a proud owner of a second hand freelander 2! It has done a few miles at 10400 but still under the average for that age of the car.
My question to you guys! Is there anything I should do to rest everything to factory setting such as sat navigation.... average mpg ect!?

I also love diy jobs and projects... has if anyone knows of any easy mods that are worth doing for a 2007 td4 hse please share Smile

Fit a cambelt kit if its not been done and forget mods that add no real value. Whistle FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Thanks Yorky Bob.... when I bought the beast I ensured the ten year service was completed ( a year early but can't do it any harm). That included a new Cambelt /water pump ect Smile

I'd be interested to know what mods you belive do add value to the car!?
Regards

I'm also a new owner and have been reading loads of information here that is quite valuable. Given the age and mileage, I would recommend you search for the threads here on the forum regarding changing the fluid in the Haldex unit and the differential. Very important preventative maintenance you should consider.

This items aren't listed as regular maintenance items because auto makers (not just Land Rover) advertise these as "sealed for life", but the reality is to a manufacturer life is defined as "warranty period + 1 day. 2008 3.2L I6 Auto

Not into mods or gimmicks like side steps and full fat wheels so you are asking the wrong person but I fully agree with Macallan. Within 2 months of my car being out of warranty the Haldex was removed by Austen at Bell Engineering and cleaned with new oils and filter added. The other sealed for life oils have mostly been changed now by myself.

To me that adds the real value hopefully as you should help stave off big time future repair costs. these motors are keepers compared to the new kids on the block like the DS and Evoque. Some of the very last models even now are for sale at over £30,000.

So to sum up. go for preventative servicing over and above the schedules. Thumbs Up FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

A decent diagnostic tool is a useful addition if you're intending on doing your own maintenance and servicing. apart from being able to reset the service indicator, It can help to alert you to faults which may not flag-up as errors on the dash, or appear to affect the cars performance but can lead to longer term problems.

EGR blanking is a worthwhile mod too.

Thank you all for your replys, This is really useful.
On purchasing my new Freelander I made sure the following was done before hand
Replace coolant
Replace gearbox oil
Replace the ancillary driving belt
Replace the power transfer unit oil
Replace rear differential oil
Renew Camshaft drive belt, tensioner and idler pulley

I will look at servicing the Difs and everything else mentioned. Blanking the EGR? i have not heard of this... i might have to google it and see how difficult this is!

Regards

EGR blanking - one of these -

and about 5 minutes to fit it, saves the engine from ingesting it's own exhaust gas and soot thus keeping the inlet side a lot cleaner.
