Stuttering and poor MPG

I have seen several posts about poor MPG and what seems like a misfire or sudden hesitation. In mine the car would lose power only for a second and then recover. No error codes or check engine light. MPG stubbornly stayed at 31.

At the weekend, took out the air flow sensor and fired several squirts of brake cleaner through it until the dirty brown fluid coming out was clear.

Result - MPG now 34 and rising, no stutters whatsoever.

Already had brake cleaner so cost £0

Result and worth a try for anyone with a higher mileage example - mone is 100k and the MAF was very dirty

Nice One Thumbs Up
The important thing is to resist the temptation to poke around in the MAF - very fragile and VERY expensive! I use Maplins electrode spray blasts the dirt out and evaporates away No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

"Fiat Lux" a philosophy not a car
