What does this sound like? (video)

Hey Freelander enthusiast

Owner of a 2010 TD4 here with a disturbing problem right now. I went out yesterday and made a few stops without issue as usual until I got home and noticed a crazy sound coming from under the hood.

At first in the pitch black I thought it was probably the radiator fan breaking since its usually the only thing that runs for a few mins when shutting off the engine.

Today I went out for a look and soon realized the fan was fine and it was coming from behind the fan in front of the engine. The sound comes directly when you insert the key I believe and or when you put your foot on the break with the key in. The sound persists after the engine is turned on and idling, which i only ran for about a minute before shutting off.

Since the manual doesn't really give details about the engine itself and where everything is located, I thought to look online with the same problem of vague pictures and mislabeled images everywhere online.

I found a few alternator videos that were near identical in sound both Freelander and other vehicle types.

This is my video which the camera is upside down, but its right behind the radiator and on the front of the engine right under the plastic.

This is a Freelander video that sounds quite the same which I found other car videos of people spinning the alternator without the belt and making the same noise.

My main questions are if anyone can give a better idea of the problem based off of the noise alone? And if so is this something that's going to keep my car out of use for days if the parts are not easily obtained.

The bit towards the end of the first video sounds to me like the gears are stripped in the throttle body actuator, not a bad job really, swapped mine recently, took about half an hour or so.

Having heard the second one I'm not so sure though ??

Thanks for the help and ideas behind what could be wrong, you just confirmed that I have no idea what I'm doing or real troubleshooting skills. I have a 9am appointment booked so hopefully that gives a garage plenty of time to figure out a solution.

I probably should have said it has 40,000km and only thing really replaced has been break pads / calipers cause I go up and down a mountain where i live. It has had a flat battery a few times and blown fuse but nothing else.

The next service is due right about now too.
