Diesel Particulate Filter

When did Land Rover start fitting DPFs to the Freelander , I have a 2011 model registered on 31/12/2010, is that likely to have one fitted?

DPF became standard in UK from 2011 MY, basically from September 2010 onwards. If you've got the chrome trim on the tailgate then it'll be a 2011MY and will have DPF.

If we are talking about Freelander 2, then since the beginning for certain markets.

Look at the VIN. If the 8th character is "C" or "E", then you have DPF.

Ah ok. Thanks for that. I'll bear that in mind. Mines due a service in 4k miles so I'll call LR to see how much it'll be or try and find an indie specialist. Can't be too hard to find in Devon lol 😁

Yes and many Indies will not be using the correct spec.

Castrol technical told me to use spec WSS-M2C-934B their oil is EDGE Professional C1 5W-30 and then went onto to say dealer only with no retail product.

All is not lost as Millers (from Yorkshire Bow down) supply that spec so look up OPIE a site sponser (or a local agent) and turn up at your chosen dealer / Indie with it. Thumbs Up FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

No problem.

Opie millers site page is not crystal clear so once there do a search on the spec and Millers. You need 6lts and I caught them on a deal with no shipping cost once I added some gearbox oil etc. Exclamation FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
