European Breakdown Cover - Any advice please.....

Hi All,
I cant see a specific place for this question and there doesnt seem to be any chat about it that I can find. I am taking a trip to South of France in a couple of weeks in my FL2 and would like peace of mind breakdown cover. My AA membership has expired and their Euro cover is quite expensive. There are so many choices on offer. I am think GEM or Brittannia. Has anyone ant experience of these or other advice please. I would be grateful.... Thanks.

When we next need it we will use ADAC

https://www.adac.de/mitgliedschaft/adac_membership/

I have met a lot of people who rate them highly and you are covered in the UK as well where they use the AA.

I did read a negative report about them from someone in England who had called them out four times in as many months for wheel changes after punctures - he was a bit bit miffed that they wanted to up his annual subscription.

If you do a search on this forum you will find the comments.

This year, while in the south of France while caravaning an English guy had a throttle problem with his 1992 motor home. He could start it but could not turn the engine off other than by stalling it!
Within 3 hours of his call they had sourced and arranged for a local garage to carry out the work and arranged for the replacement part to be couriered for the next day. Tattoos - Why would you choose to look like the wall of a public toilet?

Some Nationwide BS accounts have recovery associated with them. Rad the T and C's carefully. FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years
FL2 MY13 TD4 GS Current

I recently renewed my insurance and was offered a great deal on RAC inc European cover.
In the past I have used green flag, but fortunately have never needed their services so will never know if they were good or bad.
Try comparison websites inc money supermarket.

Good Luck

If you or spouse happen to be a (or an ex-) civil servant the Civil Service Motoring Association do a very cheap deal - I think it's with Green Flag. Cover for any vehicle in UK, plus one nominated vehicle abroad. Ex AA Series III LWB Safari - Gone
300TDi Disco (bought new - terrible car) sent back after 18 months
Freelander 1 Estate - leased, given back at end of lease
200TDi Disco (bought from a mate with 100,000 on the clock) - Gone
Disco 2 TD5 - sold and exported to France
FR2 TD4 GS - Gone
FR2 SD4 HSE - Now changed for a DS
New model ex-demo Evoque S 180 in white
Unable to order a new DS, so gave up. Now have a Volvo S90 Recharge.

Thanks for your replies chaps.
I am still seeking a solution. I like the ADAC idea but its an annual policy. Was looking for a single trip and was specifically looking for someone who has used a breakdown service in Europe to recommend. Anyone else any ideas please??

Green euro recovery now part of kwik fit I think. Fetched us all back from Paris when the gearbox let go on the RR including the dog. My premium went up so went with another provider don't travel without some kind of cover it would have cost us ££££'£ without
