VirginMedia - Broadband/DigiTV/Phone - anyone use them?

For TV/Broadband/Phone combined package?

Interested in your view of their service – and whether their 20Mbps Broadband really is 20Mbps.

I'm paying about £70 for SkyHD + an additional Sky + box + all the channels
Plus BT phone line and Broadband (UP TO 8Mbps - more like 3Mbps) at about £190 per 1/4
Virgin Media can do all that and more for about £66pm. Sounds a good deal. Chris

If you're only getting 3Mbps from BT, then that is all you will get from Virgin as it's probable that your line won't support any higher speed, unless the speed you're getting from BT isn't correct.

The only thing you will probably gain is better customer service as BT's is utter crap Evil or Very Mad ______________________

Virgin uses their own fibre optic cable straight to your house.

I used to have their 1Mb service a couple of years ago and i had no problems (down load was 1MB as it said onthe tin).

HOWEVER I have heard all sorts of horror stories about their telephone service, the TV package is limited (no SKY1 for instance) and there Customer Service is rubbish too (although that seemsto be a theme with all telephone companies)

By coincidence I've just received a marketing pack from Virgin Media today, as already mentioned their service is delivered by fibre optic cable, so first you need to be sure that the cables have been installed in your street. One of my sisters has the Virgin 10mb service, they regularly get 8mb if the online speed checker is to be believed, which sounds OK. I'm happy with BT we regularly get 6+mb but we do live right next door to the exchange! Have swapped stories about customer service and seems like BT and Virgin are as bad as each other !!

Don't know how the movie offerings stack we only use Freeview through a BT Vision box, (twin tuner hard drive recorder) which you can get for a one off payment of £30. Virgin phone service lacks caller I/D, but the TV offers BBC iplayer direct to TV which may be handy. Stornoway Grey GS ... What a fine motor Smile ... but not any more ... Big Cry ... psst look at my gallery!
Company cars ... a thing of the past - May 2013.

Yep, gonna sign up with Virgin Media with one of their all-in-one packages. Save me a packet!

BT' broadband customer help service is simply appalling. Don't get me on my soap box on that one. Banging Head Chris

has anyone got a virginmedia package without the phone? Quite keen to get their broadband and tv package but would rather keep the BT phoneline coz my house alarm is wired directly into it. Every offer I see seems to include the phone line which i dont want!

Have to say that their email service is a bit dodgy at times and was completely unavailable twice last week, once for over 24 hours!

That's the prob.
BT are robbing Censored and their customer service has me climbing the walls and issuing death threats left right and centre. They only WANT to speak to you when it is time to renew your contract.
But for the most part their service is pretty reliable.
I am still waiting for Sky to become very reliable and I will change. Thumbs Up
