Heated Steering Wheel Retrofit MY15 - Completed

This is purely a "plug and play" exercise, no CCF edit required!
First remove existing non heated steering wheel.

Once wheel is removed, undo 2 torx screws under steering cowling and pop open, no need to remove.

Remove 2 plugs from clockspring, take note the small dual pin plug is the heated steering wheel circuit which is part of the dash harness.

Remove 4 Philips head screws holding the non-heated clockspring and swap with heated clockspring. Next two pictures show the difference between the heated and non heated clockspring - 2 pins!

Non heated.

Heated.

Replace 2 plugs and put heated steering wheel on!

Job Done!

Off!

Heating On!

Disconnect battery 5 minutes or so before doing the job to allow capacitors to drain, no other precautions required! MY15

Stuck the camera on a short separate tripod extension section then rested it on my head jamming it up against the small ridge in the roof for the sun visor, with the camera on timer!

Failing then one could just have held the camera on a short piece of timber with a couple of rubber bands. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

You can tell a Yorkshire-man - but not much.

Coldest I have slept out in (as in tent) is -40c without wind Chill for several days on Mt Mckinley. Now that was cold (50 years old then) and some of those sheep would have helped. Big Cry FL2 MY10 TD4 GS traded in at 2 years

Just a quick correction.....whilst the retrofit of the heated steering wheel doesn't require a CCF edit to make it work if you don't change the correct field, of which there is 2 different fields both with multiple choices, you will get an "Incomplete Configuration" DTC as I discovered and not seen before. Laughing
Once I changed the correct field the DTC extinguished.
