Bonnet release EXTERNALLY

FL2 2011 model year.

When my battery goes flat (as it is regularly these days) and I can't unlock the car, how can I access the Bonnet Pull cable to get the bonnet up to replace/charge the battery please. The spare key in the fob doesn't work on mine as it appears to be electro mecnanical central locking and with a dead flat battery it will not play.

Is there an exposed area of cable I can latch on to from the underside of the car/anywhere please?

I doubt it, if there was the details would be pulled off the forum as obviously it advertises a security issue.

If anyone has a solution please bear this in mind before posting, or PM the OP

Can't you gain entry with the key that is located in the fob? Or is that just on later models? No Longer the owner of a 2013MY Fuji White GS

The cable routing is not easily accessible with the bonnet down.

But it sounds as though you have a problem with your mechanical lock - that's intended to work if the central locking system fails, or in the case of a vehicle power failure. It shouldn't rely on either a working central locking system or vehicle power.

2008 models can be entered by using key from fob in passenger door. I would imagine all models have a mechanical method of entry?

How about connecting a charger via the trailer socket if you have one, or failing that you could rig a charging socket somewhere just accessible behind the grille or similar location.

You would think so, but mine refused to play last time, but fortunately, and I don't know how/why, but the boot had unlocked from the fob on the tiny power left in the battery. I tried to gain access to the car via the key in the fob and it would not operate the locks so it was climb in through the boot.

My battery is currently on charge and I have just tried to unlock the car using the KEY in the fob on the passenger door lock, it works but it uses power as a blip is clearly evident on the charger!

May I ask if anyone here has ever used this key with a TOTALLY flat battery, because turning the key creates a battery draw so there is some electrical operation of the lock as well!

Hence why I hoping to find a route in the engine compartment/battery, when my battery totally drains again overnight.

As my post above, the spare Key in the fob actually uses power to facilitate unlocking, at least it does in mine, it is NOT simply mechanical!

I agree that seems daft, but my key doesn't work unless I have some power.

That's why I think you have a problem with your lock. The mechanical lock should unlock the passenger door, and the act of unlocking the passenger door will trigger the central locking. Sounds like your key isn't quite doing enough to open the lock, but is doing enough to trigger the central locking.

The 'emergency' key in the passenger door requires a hefty force to unlock the car, the key needs to force the levers in the door round to an unlock position, it sounds like the switch mechanism is operating, there is little force needed, have you tried a bit of leverage on the key? pair of pliers or something.

I'm with you on this Bob - providing the source of the battery drain is established
Is it just a duff battery?
Is it charging properly from the car?
Is there a component drawing power when it should not?

All these questions need to be addressed to eliminate the cause of the flat battery AND of course make sure you can get in your vehicle!

Nope, it's pure mechanical...
The fact that it also presses a switch to ease the opening is another matter.
But with enough force, it will open/close mechanically.
I know for sure, because, when I don't use the car for prolonged periods of time, I disconnect the battery and lock and then, when I come back, unlock the car with the key blade, pure mechanically, because the battery is obviously not working, being disconnected.
