Headlights ALWAYS on

Hi
I am living in the south of Brazil, 3 years Freelander 2, lovin it.

There is a brandnew law in Brazil which means that everybody must TURN ON the headlights ALL THE TIME. Otherwise heavy fine... Crying or Very sad

Question: is there a software solution which turns the headlights ON when you start the engine (and turns them of when you stop it)?

Thanks a ot
sunny greetings

Stefan

Yes it's possible to set the "Daytime Running Lights" on, same as for Canadian or Scandanavian markets. However you need a suitable diagnostic tool to make this programming.

Years ago I made a "cheat" with one of my cars that had automatic lights, I put some black tape over the light sensor which tricked the car into thinking it was dark / night time. So the lights would come on all the time in auto mode. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

The DRL function in earlier cars is to just turn on the headlights, no separate DRL assemblies like on later cars.

I am not sure which light sensor controls the headlights switching on & off in the FL2, in my old Jag it was the light sensor on the rear view mirror, but out of curiosity I did try that one on the FL2 already and it did not control the headlights, I think it might be the light sensor on the dashboard. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers

For sure it's possible to enable Scandanavian DRL using the dealer tool (SDD) but if they can or will is a different matter. As I recall it's not a "locked" feature so they should be able to do it for you. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE Si6 Black/Black - Hers
