My 2013 Freelander2 is causing grief. The hill start assist or auto release handbrake refuses to release. it is an intermittent fault. It will always release if you reverse. I have had the" linkage " ie. motors and calipers cleaned and lubricated by the dealer but to no avail. Today the ABS decided to stop the vehicle just after I had pulled away from a junction. It happened twice and nearly had the car behind run into me.

Get parking brake module reset. Dealers have done mine twice. Had intermittent issue similar to you but mainly in reverse. |

Well, after three weeks in the dealer it now seems to be repaired. After a lot of testing requested by land rover , a new module that did not cure the fault, it turned out to be the 1st gear switch on the gear box that was not sending a signal to the module to tell it that first gear was selected. |
