"Found" in engine bay - what's this bit for?

OK, so emergency visit to Halfords for a new headlight bulb, let techie fit it as I didn't have the tools with me, and he found this caught up in the headlight release mechanism. we couldn't see where it was missing from, so what is it, and should I be worried that it's on my kitchen table???

Three letters on it R F and I spread across the width...

Puzzled!

Securing the battery. It should be at the front, left side of the battery within the battery box.

MoT failure (if they notice)

Thx yep is missing - have to assume that a service did this - can't see how the bracket escaped from the battery bay otherwise? We've had a couple of major items sorted over the last few years - clutch and before that the warn rear diff thing.

My wife also thinks she's had the RAC out for it for a dead battery swap, but it looks like a genuine land rover battery from the label (or is this another cover??) - but think that may be a memory fault on her part?

Update - Stratstone just put things right F.O.C. this morning.

I think that "rattle" that my wife's been moaning about for ages may also have gone - hmmmm
