It sounds more like your ABS/ ESP kicked in rather than a tyre issue... it doesn't matter if you're on snow or tarmac, if the wheels lock up, the ABS/ ESP will kick in and operate your brakes on and off so that you can (hopefully) steer around the hazard.. MY2011 Freelander 2 GS Santorini Black

This makes interesting viewing re these new tyres vs summer tyres, Goodyear Vector 4 seasons and a true winter tyre.

Been meaning to put some feedback on here about these for a while. A few weeks back I drove home from Derby on the A38 and it was hammering it down with rain and there was a lot of standing water. As expected with the A rating these tyres get in the wet, the grip was immense. It felt solid and just like I was driving on bone dry tarmac.
