Mine only started displaying the network strength indicator and the service provider name when I changed to a Nokia 6500 from an N73 and a N6230i. There was no s/w upgrade done to the car (6 months old). So it depends what the phone is sending out on Bluetooth I guess.

However, the sound quality to those I am speaking to is apparently much worse than my old phone, so I suspect I may go back to the old phone. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE auto Tonga Green/Alpaca

Scotland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Narvik Black

Car went in for snagging work and the bluetooth unit was replaced due to poor sound quality (not the lack of provider information as reported)

Still no provider indicated. Local dealer in consultaion with LR and LR response is that this is down to the car build NOT the build version of the blutooth unit. Doesnt sound technically correct that a "black box" system bolted into a space is reliant on the car build to indicate information that that black box uses? 07 RRS Java Black

I had a Sony Ericcson K850i which was a great phone but next to useless Evil or Very Mad when paired with the bluetooth, kept dropping connection etc etc wifes w810i showed Orange and the phone name so dug out my old one and works fine!!!! Thumbs Up As CG and NM have said the console will either show your phone name or whatever highly amusing name you have changed it to!!! I favour "UPDATE" as it is highly funny for bluetooth fishing in the pub!!!!!! Set low standards and constantly fail to achieve them!!!!!!!!!!!

hello guys

The problem lies with the phone software not the FL2 If you enable softwarw updates on you phone download the latest version and all should be well. I did and mine now displays Phone name, network, sig strengh, and the phone book is faultless. Never had a problem. Bluetooth connects automaticly even before i get into the car. To escape criticism -- do nothing, say nothing, be nothing.

Hi I have the same issue with my Samsung Jet S8000 phone, I do not have the signal strength display etc and the phone is the latest software. Is there a way of checking whether your car needs a software upgrade and how is it done?

Thanks

I have the normal connection problems with my Nokia 6300 but I have noticed that although I do get a signal strength indicator on my display I do not get the providers name, eg Orange, O2 etc

Dealer says this is normal. But they gave me an identical model FL2 as a courtesy car and it showed the details. Dealer said this should not be the case and would do a software upgrade. Still no provider shown but was told that must be the norm. Strange that the courtesy car had an abnormal "extra"?

What do other users see?

Cheers

I give up with the bluetooth thing it is rubbish. The whole thing is supposed to be universal Laughing The phone manufactures don't release (so LR told me) the latest software on new phones till a few months after the phone is launched & so in the case of LR & I guess most if not all manufactures they have to keep buying new phones to disect them & work on software upgrades.

My Nokia 6650 does all the display stuff OK but would not copy the phone book (software issue) The cotacts have now been bluetoothed to the FL2 but any new contacts won't come up in the car phone book unless you send them individually. However I have now found that if I dial a number in on the dash key pad it either disconects the phone or dials the number & lets it ring once then disconects + bloody annoying. I don't know if it is the rubbish phone or the FL2.

My previous phone was a Nokia 6310i which was fantastic but it gave up the ghost a few months ago - incidentally I still have the in car cradle/charger which I was going to sell if anyone wants it. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

I have the samsung Jet S8000 and it displays the signal strength, network and phone name, together with all features of phone book, last number redial etc flawlessly. If you have problems, try a complete deletion of both profiles (your phone and FL2) then re-pair.

Hi Kezman have you had any upgrades done on your car to the bluetooth software etc as I have now also tried to pair my sony K800i and that also shows the same so I think it is the car?

Thanks
