LAND ROVER OIL LEVEL SENSOR LR2 FREELANDER 2 LR010354

Hi Guys i've got the oil light coming up on the dash.
The car is the Si6 everything says thats an oil PRESSURE switch.

I've had the car serviced by a "specialist landrover dealer" who im finding useless. But I cant find a listing for one anywhere even my LANDROVER local dealer says they dont have a listing for one only for the DIESEL modle. However they said they do have a oil level switch below. LR010354

I'm sure im not using oil pressure as fuel economy is ok, and engine isnt using oil or smoking, or ratteling. all seems well. Im just after has anyone done one of these as im not keen to splash out $600 or so to find out thats not even the problem.

thanks in advance to everyone

I had a throttle body replaced by an independent dealer and as I drove off I noticed that the oil light was on. I went back immediately and everyone was perplexed as to what could have happened as there was no oil leak or sign of a problem. They eventually discovered that the wire connecting the sensor had come adrift. This was a diesel of course and it was clear that it must have been dislodged by the mechanic whilst doing the job. In this case the sensor was difficult to see from above the engine but this might be worth checking.
Many years ago I had an oil light come on in a Morris Marina and that was due to the switch failure but the dealer told me that they often only come on below about 4 psi anyway by which time you have already wrecked your engine so if your engine is running normally and has oil in it then it can be ignored. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
