Turbo problems, need help

I have MY2010 HSE which I've had from new and it has 51k on the clock.

Engine management light on

Recently the car has become jerkey at lower speeds, almost hesitant. Much of my travel is short journeys.

I've read threads on sticky vanes and eventually put two full cans of
Wynns turbo cleaner in, a spray at a time, into the down pipe to the turbo.

Unlike the advert the engine, by and large, did not surge much maybe a second max.

Now I'm using Wynns Diesel 3 system cleaner and plenty of black smoke is being burnt off.

The problem is not as bad, but is still there, mostly at low speed and worse when engine not full temp.

So, and suggestions or is this turbo out. I note no one seems to have put Photos of how to remove the turbo.

The thoughts/experiences of others are sought. Car is serviced fully and has passed MOT last week

Sounds like your first move should be to get it on a diagnostic machine to check for error codes. You could be wasting your time otherwise. When was fuel filter last changed? Have you got a "reduced engine performance" message up? 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto

Fuel filter was 12 months ago when last serviced. Due this month. On a full diagnostic machine in car, belonging to a ex LR tech now working for Audi it showed as problems around the actuator I think. As the car only does relatively short journeys I felt it was probably sooted up, hence the Wynns treatment. Tonight I revved the engine up and switched off. I could hear a sort of ziiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnng noise as the turbo slowed to stop. No grinding noises and no other noise. Should I be able to hear the turbo or should it be almost silent?

Car is fine up to 1800 revs, struggles and is hesitant above and then above 2300 it is fine.

Shouldn't ever rev a turbo engine up and switch off. Reason being the turbo will continue to spin but as the engine is not running, no oil will be pumped to the turbo. You should ideally let a turbo engine tick over for a few seconds to allow the turbo to slow down before switching off. Past: FL2 TD4 HSE Auto
Evoque SD4 Dynamic Lux Auto
Present: Audi A3 S Line.

split turbo hose, split inter-cooler - obdII reader will give you an indication of low turbo pressure.
could also be split vacuum hose to wastegate.

Get an obdII reader they can be less than £50 and at least give you an idea of where to start. Don't get me wrong, spend a few hundred and get a dedicated diagnostics unit if you are serious about doing your own repairs.

just guessing and throwing money at a faulty car that is trying to tell you whats wrong, is just a waste of time and money.

I don't believe that the turbos on FL2 are a common weak link, but hoses live a hard life, perish and fail on all makes of car. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
