I'm toying with fitting a leather trimmed steering wheel replace the " plastic" one on our 09 GS. As i will be reusing all the controls etc just the frame and wheel bit will be fine, but I don't mind buying the whole lot to canabalise . Im even open to looking at a scruffy one so I can get it re-trimmed. So anybody who has anything that might be of interest drop me a pm please.

I think Royal steering wheels will send you a wheel that has been trimmed and then once fitted you return yours to them and they use that for someone else. That way you always have a wheel and keep your buttons and airbag. Might be worth a look.

Hi Paul, yes I'm alive and well and so is the car . As it only gets used for local runs it will be around for a long time, it's under 50k on the clock, and has the benefit of being pre DPF. We've owned it for 5 years now and even with about £1000 worth of repairs , it has still been a great buy, £16500 purchase and I bet I could still shift it privately for a decent price. I'll give them a call, I assumed that they just re-trimmed leather ones I didn't know I could service exchange the plastic.

It's very rare I drive the thing but the one thing I've always hated was the tacky steering wheel, but when we bought as a replacement for the 90 we looked for a low spec car as even that would be a leg up from the Defender

I have used Royal Steering wheels earlier this year. Im very impressed with the new wheel. Its a exchange service, so pay your money, they make the wheel to order and deliver. Once fitted, return your old plastic wheel and they refund the exchange bond.
